I am taking my blog over to blogspot.  I have set it up but I will not be writing in it until tomorrow.  The address is www.plumpnonfiction.blogspot.com.  Please be patient during the process :-)

Today is Saturday.  I love Saturdays.  I’m looking forward to a nice relaxing day.  The kids will be gone for the night by 2pm and then it is time for Nick and I to have some alone time.  I love my kids so much, but I really cherish the time away from them.  It gives me a break and then when they come home I’m so happy to see them that everything I went through during the week vanishes.

I’ve been starting to think about my next birthday.  My 30th birthday.  Luckily it’s not until March.  I would like to lose quite a bit of weight before then.  I was trying to set up a goal but I don’t know if a goal will lead to failure.  It always has before.  Maybe I should just try my hardest and see what happens.  That’s what I’ll do.  I can only take my life one day at a time.  I cannot look 8 months into the future and figure out what I can and can’t do.

Breakfast: Whole wheat bagel w/ cream cheese, banana

Lunch: Macaroni & cheese w/ light hot dogs mixed in (I did this for the kids.  I bought a macaroni and cheese that was a little bit more expensive but was suppose to be a little bit healthier), broccoli

Snack: Nature Valley roasted almond granola bar, fat-free milk

Dinner: Mushroom and pepperoni pizza (made it myself and added tons of mushrooms), raspberry drink made w/ sorbet, frozen yogurt, raspberries, cran-raspberry juice & vodka

Snack: 2 fun size candy bars, fat-free vanilla frozen yogurt w/ granola, chocolate syrup & banana

Exercise was 30 minutes on the treadmill walking/running.  I also did a Leslie Sansone Walk At Home DVD that was a mile walk with weights.  I was not in the mood to exercise yesterday.  I really had to push myself to keep going.  Hopefully today will be a better day.

Yesterday ended so nicely.  Nick got home from work and we went out to eat at IHOP.  We all had a nice meal together.  I just had a belgian waffle.  No bacon.  No sausage.  No eggs.  Nothing else.  I was pretty proud of myself.  I remember a time where I would look through the menus to find the most greasy, unhealthy food possible on one plate.  My husband even asked me if I wanted some of his food (steak, eggs, pancakes) but I said NO.  :-)   Yay me!

After dinner, we went to target to get a few cheap toys for the kids.  Brian was using up the rest of his birthday money.  I still can’t believe he’s 6 now.  Time flies.

After that, we went to a free magic show at the library.  I love our library so much!  It was such a nice evening.  It makes me look forward to so many more.

Next week we are planning on having dinner & a movie with the kids on Tuesday when all 4 of us can see a movie for $10 total.

Breakfast: Whole wheat bagel w/ cream cheese, banana chocolate peanut butter smoothie

Snack: Iced coffee

Lunch: Store bought pizza, salad

Snack: Apple w/ almond butter

Dinner: Belgian waffle w/ strawberry topping at IHOP

Snack: TOO MANY… fat-free vanilla frozen yogurt w/ granola, chocolate syrup & peanut butter, leftover pizza (one small tiny slice), leftover london broil, grape soda

Exercise was 45 minutes on the treadmill

Weigh in day! July 15, 2010

I was really worried that PMS would take away my success at the scale this week.  Luckily, before bed I drank a lot of water and I seemed to flush out some of the bloat I was feeling.  So I’m down…

2.2 pounds!!!

My total in five weeks is -9.5 pounds.  My total overall from my highest weight is -30.5 :-)

I couldn’t be happier today.

Breakfast: English muffin w/ peanut butter & honey

Snack: Vanilla honey greek yogurt by yoplait w/ granola, honey & raspberries

Lunch: Grilled shrimp (wasn’t the biggest fan of these), banana chocolate, peanut butter smoothie

Snack: Marinated artichokes, graham cracker w/ peanut butter & honey, apple, diet coke

Dinner: London broil & salad

Snack: Vanilla frozen yogurt w/ granola & chocolate syrup

No exercise.  Rest day.

I spent quite a bit of money at the grocery store yesterday.  $116.  I guess it isn’t that bad considering we are eating in more.  I would like to shave at least $40 off that bill for next time.

Hump Day! July 14, 2010

Today is grocery shopping day.  I will be getting more fruits and vegetables than I usually get and start my minimum of 3 fruits or vegetables a day tomorrow.  I will gradually build up to more.  I don’t understand why I have such a hard time eating fruits and vegetables.  It should be an easy thing to do.

PMS is starting.  I can feel it.  Yesterday I blew up at my husband and then had to apologize when I realized what was happening.  I’m starting to have harder control over myself emotionally and with what I want to eat.  I’m just hoping the bloat stays away for my weigh in tomorrow.  I’m going to take a rest day from exercise.  My body needs it.  I will drink a lot of water to fight the bloat.  I will eat the best I can.  And I will try not to yell at my husband.  Poor Nick!

We didn’t end up eating out on our Tuesday eating out night.  Nick had to work overtime and we definitely wouldn’t refuse that.  So I was going to take the kids out myself but the whole purpose of Tuesday eating out night is so we can all eat together as a family.  So, we decided to postpone it until Thursday.  Instead, I made omelets.

Breakfast: Whole wheat bagel w/ cream cheese, coffee

Lunch: Leftover tacos on flour tortillas w/ ground beef, avocado, cheddar cheese, tomato & lettuce

Snack: Fat-free pudding w/ teddy grahams mixed in, coconut marshmallows, reduced fat ritz crackers w/ almond butter

Dinner: 1 whole egg 3 egg white omelet w/ cheddar cheese

Snack: Ice cream w/ coconut marshmallows

Exercise was 30 minutes on the treadmill walking/running.  About 29 minutes using the biggest loser game for the Wii.

Have a great hump day!

Has anyone seen the new ABC family show called Huge?  It is about a bunch of teens that spend the summer at a weight loss camp.  It is nice to see a show that actually has many real life overweight actors.  It’s not over the top like I first expected it to be.  Of course, I think they do turn it up a notch for ratings.

I totally relate with many of the characters but the one I feel fits me best is Becca.  She is shy and doesn’t speak her mind afraid that something might come out stupid.  I’ve spent most of my life being the person who hides away.  I am not the person I want to be in regards to my personality.  I am one of those people who can make you laugh but I need to know you a lot better to be able to do that.  The problem is, most of the time I don’t get to that point with people because they think I am antisocial and boring.  I keep hoping that when I lose the weight, I will gain the confidence to not shy away from new people when I meet them.

If you are interested in the show Huge, check out www.hulu.com or www.abcfamily.go.com

Breakfast: Maple & brown sugar oatmeal

Lunch: Leftover chicken parmesan w/ texas toast

Snack: Graham crackers w/ peanut butter & honey, apple

Dinner: Tacos made on a flour tortilla w/ seasoned ground beef, avocado, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, lettuce

Snack: Ice cream

Exercise was 20 minutes doing 2 parts of a biggest loser dvd (the cardio part was so hardand I did an upper body workout with hand weights).  I also walked/ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes and did a total of almost 3.5 miles.

This is what I look like after an intense workout.  My shirt is soaked.  I’m not afraid to sweat, are you?

And this is what I look like after taking an awesome cool shower.  I’ve noticed I don’t have a huge double chin anymore.  Go me!

Changes July 12, 2010

I’m sure I’ve had people come to read my blog and think… how does she expect to lose weight eating that?  I wish I could take you back in time to a little over a month ago.  You would not believe the stuff I would put in my mouth.  I am doing so much better than before.  For me, this has to be a gradual process.  I couldn’t go from eating a ton of bad foods to only eating really healthy foods.  Even though it might seem like I’m still eating horribly, I’ve changed quite a bit already.  I will keep changing.  All I need is time.

I snacked quite a bit yesterday.  It does seem like a lot now that I look at my list.  But the amount I ate of each thing was the good part.  That is the change I’m talking about.  With ice cream, I used to have a huge bowl.  Now I have a very small portion.  About 1/2 cup.  When I had the cheese doodles and corn chips… I had about a handful of each.  I used to be able to eat a whole bag.  I’m doing better.

The one thing I can’t seem to get enough in of is fruits and vegetables.  Yesterday I ate a peach.  That was it for fresh fruits and vegetables.  I ate one little peach.  This week on my grocery shopping day, I will be stocking up on fruits and vegetables.  My first goal will be to eat 1 fruit or vegetable with every meal.  Yes, still not enough but it is a step in the right direction.

We have stuck to our eating out plans for a week now.  We ate out once on Tuesday at Panera Bread and we will not eat out again until Tuesday again.  It was very hard this weekend not to eat out.  It is so nice to be able to go out and eat and not have to cook.  But now that we made it the whole weekend, it feels great.  I’m proud of us!  Plus it’s nice not spending all the money we would normally spend.

Breakfast: Multigrain english muffin w/ peanut butter & honey

Lunch: Grilled cheese w/ american cheese & turkey bacon, cole slaw

Snack: A few sex on the beaches, graham crackers w/ peanut butter & honey, ice cream, olives, marinated articokes, peach, grape soda (I don’t drink regular soda hardly at all anymore so I thought it would be ok once in a while)

Dinner: Chicken parmesan & texas toast

Snack: Ice cream (yes, I had it again), cheese doodles & corn chips (not proud of that)

Exercise was about 30 minutes playing tennis with my husband and 30 minutes on the treadmill.  My butt is so sore today.  I’m wondering if playing tennis had anything to do with it…

The chicken parmesan was made from scratch.  Even the breadcrumbs.  I do not make my own breadcrumbs a lot but it is a very simple thing to do.  First I put 4-5 pieces of whole wheat bread in the food processor.

Turn the processor on for about 25-30 seconds until you have fine crumbs.

Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes until golden.

Then, put them in a bowl with some spices.  For the chicken, I used oregano, garlic powder, paprika, salt & pepper.

Enjoy!

No binges so far… July 11, 2010

I have been sticking to my plan for the weekend so far by not losing control.  In fact, I feel very under control.  But let’s see if I can get through today successfully.

Yesterday we stayed in.  We watched some movies.  We ate a yummy dinner.  We relaxed.  We took a walk.  It was a nice day.  The heat wave seems to be gone.  I’m happy.

Nothing much else to say so here’s what I ate yesterday!

Breakfast: Sandwich made with a multigrain english muffin, egg, american cheese & turkey bacon

Lunch: Leftover spaghetti w/ mozzarella cheese, crushed tomatoes & parmesan cheese

Snack: Orange cream cake, leftover pepperoni pizza (1 slice), sex on the beach (about 3 small drinks)

Dinner: Baby back ribs, baked zuchini, cole slaw, baked french fries

Snack: Leftover baked zuchini & baked french fries

Exercise was 20 minutes on the treadmill.  I also did a new Leslie Sansone DVD.  It was called the 1 mile jog.  After that, I spent about 34 minutes on the Wii doing a biggest loser workout.  I’m really trying to work out my arms more.  I feel so weak in my upper body.

Motivation July 10, 2010

What is your motivation is lose weight?  I have quite a few.  My biggest reason is that I want be healthy.  I know carrying around all this extra weight is not a good thing.  Another reason… my husband and kids.  I want to see my kids grow up and I want to grow old with my husband.  It would be so horrible to die of an obsese related complication if I had a chance to change it.  My last reason is a little superficial.  I want to look good.  I want to wear cute clothes and not feel like a whale.  That’s not asking too much, right?

I’m so happy today is Saturday.  I wake up every weekday and I have to deal with everything at home by myself.  I have to figure out how to keep the house clean and take care of 2 energetic boys.  I have to make meals and deal with time outs.  It is so nice to have my husband home.  I feel like I can take a step back and let him take care of some of the problems.  I hope you have a great Saturday like me!

Breakfast: Multigrain english muffin w/ peanut butter & honey, coffee

Lunch: Jenni-O turkey cheeseburger on a bun w/ tomato, ketchup & mustard

Snack: Banana chocolate peanut butter smoothie

Dinner: Pepperoni pizza made by my two little hands

Snack: Pepperidge farms orange cream cake, graham crackers w/ peanut butter & honey

Exercise was 40 minute treadmill workout.  I would of gone longer but my ipod batteries died.  I cannot workout without my music!

I drink water… do you? July 9, 2010

I have a small tip for all those who hate drinking water like me.  Instead of forcing myself to sit and drink a whole glass at a time, I take big gulps out of a glass and keep putting the glass back in the refrigerator.  With this routine, I end up drinking at least 6-8 big glasses of water a day and sometimes more.  The water stays super cold and I don’t feel the pressure of drinking a full glass in one sitting.  It works for me!

We should all know the importance of drinking water.  Water has so many different important jobs.  It carries nutrients in and waste out of our cells and organs.  It helps to lubricate our joints.  It makes our intestines work better and it regulates our body temperature.  What do you think the main ingredient is of the fluids in our body like blood? Water of course!  Remember to drink some water… your body will thank you!

Breakfast: Toasted whole wheat bagel w/ cream cheese

Snack: Apple

Lunch: McDonalds grilled ranch chicken BLT w/ some fries & a diet coke

Snack: Graham crackers w/ peanut butter & honey, grape soda (my weakness)

Dinner: Pancakes w/ syrup, turkey bacon & a banana

Snack: More graham crackers w/ peanut butter, italian bread w/ buttery spread

Exercise was about 50 minutes of Leslie Sansone’s Walk At Home DVD.  Also 30 minutes on the treadmill.
